OBESITY a growing health MENACE

Seeing a chubby kid isn't cute at all, for these kids are not healthy but will have a greater risk of having an early cardiovascular event like formation of atherosclerotic plaque.

Since the introduction of fast foods, the prevalence of obesity has been getting higher and the population with abnormal weight circumference is increasing as well. The more fast food we feed our children, the bigger risk and chance their cholesterol levels will increase.

The risk factors include: central obesity (waist circumference)for men the measurement should not be more than 90cm. (35.5in) waistline and for women not to exceed 80cm. (31.5in)

One should reduce intake of saturated and trans fat and processed foods and increase intake of whole grains, fruits, vegetables and soluble fibers.

Be aware, there is no quick fix; we need to have a lifestyle change to follow dietary guidelines, reduce calorie intake, and increase physical activity level. The goal is not just weight loss but to maintain weight without rebound.
