Manipulation

is the attempt to control, obligate or take advantage of others by unfair or insidous means. It is practiced by insecure people who are attempting to look superior by making others
squirm. It is not usually done in a bold, up-front manner, but rather indirectly, obliquely by little hints, or well-timed comments or facial expression.

Manipulation is an infantile technique and yet it is practiced by adults. No profession is immune - pastors, physicians, lawyers or even teachers. . .

If you are in position or authority, no matter how small or large, the temptation to manipulate will never go away. Do not yield, resist at all cost.

Be aware, there is a word for those who shun this counsel and push people around to get their way - Lonely.
