TURMERIC (Curcuma) latin name

Turmeric is the rhizome or underground stem of ginger like plant. Turmeric is an ancient spice, a native of South East Asia, used from antiquity as dye and a condiment. It thrives in the tropic and subtropic where it requires a hot, moist climate and a fairly light soil. Turmeric being rich in iron if used mixed with honey is invaluable in cases of anemia.
